King on Elephant
A royal mount from time immortal, the elephant
being a symbol of strength and wealth.
For the Indian kings, the elephants were of
special significance not only during war but also
during the royal festivities-a must at royal pageant.
The king always mounted a caparisoned elephant.
The mahouts (elephantkeepers) take great care
to decorate the elephants from tusk to tail.
