Valluvar Kottam is a monument built to pay homage to Tamil Poet Saint Thiruvalluvar. The monument is in the shape of a temple chariot and contains a lively and splendid statue of the poet.
The enormous temple complex is dedicated to Shiva, known here as Sundareshvara and his consort Parvati or Meenakshi. The original temple was built by Kulasekara Pandya, but the entire credit for making the temple as splendid as it is today goes to the Nayaks. The Nayaks ruled Madurai from the 16th to the 18th century.
The temple at Gangaikondacholapuram, 35km north of
Kumbakonam, is dedicated to Shiva. It was built by Rajendra I
in the 11th century. A massive Nandi (Shiva's Vehicle) faces the temple from the surrounding gardens
San Thome Basilica
This church in Chennai, erected in accordance to Neo-Gothic style of architecture. Its 183 feet high spire was built in 1894. Some remains of the corpse and also a part of the St. Thomas's bone have been preserved in the crypt that is situated in the center of the church.
